Social Media

Social media is an essential part of the marketing mix. It is up to every author to build a following and to raise their profile. Many mainstream publishers will not consider an author without at least 10,000 followers on social media!

We do provide training for our authors on the use of social media through our author events and also through the AuthorCraft Academy Open Learning Course. However, if you need some expert help, here are some suggestions

Bespoke digital audit & 121 – £249

  • Author is sent a Q&A if not already completed.
  • 15-minute call with our social Media expert is scheduled to outline the purpose and power of social media, how we can support you, answer your questions, discuss the timeframe.
  • We will spend 75 minutes preparing for the digital audit 121 including getting to grips with all the author’s current platforms, read through the Q&A, review the author’s online presence, platform, potential, then create a list of suggestions, feedback and tips for the author to implement after the 121.
  • The 121 will happen via Skype/Zoom ideally and will include us running through the report in detail, providing real-time feedback, answering questions, discussing potential strategies, and highlighting opportunities for change, development and improvement.
  • The author will be sent the digital report with amended notes based on the 121 conversations.

You are welcome to book in a ‘Power Hour’ every 3-4 weeks to help you keep on top of the outcomes and actions from the digital audit, keep you on track with your social media book launch strategy, and answer any questions you have. The cost is just £50 per hour or three hours
for £135 to be used in a 10 week period.

BRONZE PACKAGE – £849 – Six Weeks

We recommend investing in a digital audit, if you haven’t already done this, before you start with any of our packages.

Audience profiling (getting to the crux of what the desired audience / reader profile are interested in, when they’re likely to be online, what platforms they engage best on).

Content themes – for a platform to be successful and garner interest, it cannot simply seek about the product it is selling / the person it is profiling. We need to build other content pillars in i.e. crime events in London if a crime novel, best museum / museum talks if a history novel (forgive
me, this is basic and off the cuff for the sake of providing an example), podcasts to listen to etc. This gives the client a suggestion of between three and five topics to find content to inspire their posting, and will be informed according to their areas of expertise AND what their audience is interested in.

Influencer mapping – largely this will go hand-in-hand with the author’s PR activities as it will include journalists, reviewers etc, but also needs to include respected literary influencers and any influencers who sit within a specialist topic that your client is writing about. We will be suggesting that the client follows and interacts with all of these and will offer advice about how, and on which platforms.
Manage one social media platform such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, OR draft agreed amount of content for one agreed platform for specified time period leading up to launch – see above for guidance, but no less than four hours per week over a six week period.
Weekly email update.
Scheduled 20-minute introduction and wrap-up calls.
